Krynica Vitamin Switches to Green Power

Krynica Vitamin, one of the largest Polish producers of soft-drinks, low-alcohol beverages, and disinfectants, since January 2021 has completely switched to electricity from 100% renewable energy sources. This is the outcome of a one-year contract with PGE Obrót, a subsidiary of PGE Group that sells electricity to the corporate sector.
Krynica Vitamin signed a one-year contract for the purchase of electrical energy coming only from renewable energy sources. The contract covers a large production facility in the town of Dziadkowskie-Folwark.
- Taking care of the environment is an important aspect of our business. We are reducing our carbon footprint and move to the green side of the force, as reflected by our investments.
Last year we stopped using heating oil and replaced boiler-house furnaces in our production plant with gas-powered ones. Additionally, we significantly reduced the use of plastic for packing products. Furthermore, the PET bottles we use are made of 100% recycled materials. Work is also underway to reuse carbon dioxide for production. Presently, we are undergoing an energy audit that will point us in the right direction. Since our plant is located in Podlasie, a region that is dubbed the green lungs of Poland, this matter is close to our hearts – says Piotr Czachorowski, CEO of Krynica Vitamin.
The declared purchase volume of electricity from RES is nearly 10 gigawatt hours – an amount of electricity sufficient to run about 2400 households.
In 2020 Krynica Vitamin implemented a project focused on the improvement of
natural environment. In July 2020, the company commissioned an expansion of its water treatment plant boosting its capacity significantly. This year a further expansion of the water treatment plant at the production facilities is in the pipeline, as well as implementation of more environment-focused solutions.
Krynica Vitamin’s production plant is located 160 km (100 miles) east of Warsaw, in the town of Dziadkowskie-Folwark, in the very eastern part of Mazowieckie Province. The plant’s site size is 26,500 m² (6.5 acres), with production facilities having a footprint of 7,500 m² (81,000 sq ft), finished goods warehouse 15,500 m² (167,000 sq ft), and materials and packaging warehouse 3,500 m² (38,000 sq ft).
