Volunteers from Krynica Vitamin planted 1300 sessile oak trees in the vicinity of the Company’s manufacturing plant in Podlasie region,
Volunteers from Krynica Vitamin, one of the largest Polish producers of soft-drinks, low-alcohol beverages, and disinfectants planted 1300 sessile oak trees in the vicinity of the Company’s manufacturing plant in Podlasie region, near the town of Łosice. The activity was organized together with State Forests (Lasy Państwowe) with the purpose to restore local woodlands. Krynica Vitamin is the first company in the region whose employees took part in the planting of a forest.
A dozen or so people form Krynica Vitamin planted sessile oaks near the town of Łosice, between Woźniki and Świniary (in Huszlew forest district). The saplings from the National Forests nursery in Zabuże with all required equipment was provided by Sarnaki forest district office.
- It was mixing business with pleasure. We set our spades in motion, planted hundreds of young trees, driving the restoration of the forest. At the same time we were having a great time, got some respite from everyday work, actively spent time in the open air and learned how to professionally plant a forest. For example, I found out that it was better for an oak sapling to plant it with trimmed roots, rather than roots turned upwards – said Tomasz Kułakowski, Krynica Vitamin spokesperson and coordinator of the activity.
The production plant of Krynica Vitamin is located in the easternmost district of Mazowieckie Province (Łosice county). Dziadkowskie-Folwark is a small village on the border of Mazowieckie and Lubelskie Provinces. More than 300 people work in Krynica Vitamin’s plant. It is located on a 5.5 hectare plot of land, an area equal to almost 8 full-size soccer fields. The plant floor has an area of 7500 sq m, the finished product warehouse 15,500 sq m, while the raw materials and packaging warehouse is 3500 sq m large. Recently, Krynica Vitamin commissioned a 3000 sq m product packaging hall.
The company has a number of ecological projects in the pipeline. It plans to invest about PLN 10 m in further expansion of its waste-water treatment plant, however, the decision is subject to obtaining administrative decisions. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the lead time of obtaining authority decisions has increased significantly. In previous years the expansion of the treatment plant consumed PLN 5 m. Krynica Vitamin continuously invests in the modernization and expansion of its production lines and packaging equipment.
